Parkour in Wyoming

Wyoming Parkour is an informal group of traceurs in Wyoming, mostly in the Laramie area. We practice parkour together both so we can learn from each other, and because it's much more fun to practice parkour with other people. We always welcome newcomers, whether they have been practicing parkour for years, or have never heard of parkour before and just want to find out more about it. What is parkour? It's a relatively new sport that originated in France, and quickly spread to the rest of the world, mainly by means of internet videos. The purpose of parkour is to learn to use your environment to propel yourself forward as fast as possible, as if you are chasing someone, or being chased. It is about building yourself up and learning to overcome obstacles, both physical and mental. Parkour is not about doing stuipid things for the sake of show. It is not about jumping off as high as a building as you can without killing yourself. It is a gradual discipline; before you jump off a 10 ft high roof, you need to build up to it by learning how to safely jump off a 3 ft high obstacle, then a 4 ft high obstacle, and so on. However, you don't have to be high above the ground to do parkour; there are plenty of obstacles to overcome at ground level, such as fences, rails, and walls. There will always be a challenge for you, no matter how experienced you are.
